This section holds resources about grant applications such as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Pathways Out of Poverty Grant. Additionally, links to other funding opportunity materials will be stored in this location.
This section includes resources from the six sectors of the green economy, as defined by the Green Economy Task Force. Any resources that do not fit under one specific sector can be found under the general green jobs category above.
This section includes resources about green jobs in the clean energy sector of the green economy. These are jobs in companies or organizations that produce, transmit and store clean, renewable power from solar, wind, low-impact hydro, hydrogen fuel cells, marine and tidal, geothermal and small-scale biopower energy sources (Examples of jobs: electricians, electrical engineers and plumbers, plant operators, mechanics, researchers and technicians.
Environmentally Friendly Production
This section includes resources about green jobs in the environmentally friendly production sector of the green economy. These are jobs in companies that seek to mitigate the harmful environmental impacts of existing products and develop and supply alternatives that require less energy and emit fewer greenhouse gases. Sustainable Agriculture is included in this sector. (Examples of jobs: Producers of hybrid diesel buses, traffic monitoring software and liquid biofuels. Chemists who produce environmentally sound packaging, equipment and surface cleaning products. Construction workers who produce and install green building material and consultants who provide green building design. Plumbers and technicians who install smart irrigation systems, as well as chemists who design alternative pest controls and consultants who provide agricultural sustainability planning. Jobs that design and apply cleaner technologies to coal. Designers and engineers who develop biodegradable products and chemical engineers who research new chemical catalysts.
Conservation & Pollution Mitigation
This section includes resources about green jobs in the conservation and pollution mitigation sector of the green economy. These are jobs in companies or organizations that enable the United States to manage water and other finite natural resources more effectively and to mitigate emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants that result from the continued use of fossil fuels. Also included are efforts to recycle materials used in production processes, which can save energy (Examples of jobs: hazardous material removal from industrial sites; scientists and technicians develop, install and supply products to capture and treat noxious greenhouse gases and pollutants; machinists and system operators treat water and waste; and environmental consultants help companies and governments improve emissions monitoring, water conservation and recycling).
Environmentally Friendly Transportation
This section includes resources about green jobs in the environmentally friendly transportation sector of the green economy. These are jobs in companies or organizations that promote mass transportation and reduced car ownership. By reducing the number of vehicles on the road it helps to lessen the environmental impact of transportation and to divert people to less harmful modes of transport (Examples of jobs: bus driver, train dispatcher, train conducter, car share employees).
Energy Efficiency/Weatherization
This section includes resources about green jobs in the energy efficiency sector of the green economy. These are jobs in companies or organizations that help Americans reduce the amount of energy they use. Improved energy efficiency helps reduce the use of fossil fuels in the short term and use less energy—from both fossil fuels and renewable sources—in the long term (Examples of jobs: Engineers, electricians, contractors, energy auditors, weatherizers).
This section of the Resources page contains links to a number of websites that we have found useful. They usually cover a broad range of topics related to the green economy. Many of the articles and reports that we include in our email blasts come from these sites.
